Brenda Williams Memorial Fund
In recognition of Dr. Williams’ dedication and fundraising efforts for breast cancer research, Expedition Inspiration has initiated the Brenda Williams Young Investigator Award. This award will fund the work of a junior-level clinical breast cancer scientist. The first recipient of this grant is Laura Gonzalez-Malerva, PhD from The Biodesign Institute at the Arizona State University for her study entitled “Functional Genomics and Proteomics for the Understanding of Endocrine Resistance in Breast Cancer”.
Dr. Gonzalez-Malerva will attend the Annual Laura Evans Memorial Breast Cancer Symposium held in Sun Valley--symposium to present her research to some of the world’s leading breast cancer scientists February 2010.
This award will be presented in perpetuity in honor and memory of Brenda Williams, MD.
All of us at Expedition Inspiration have been privileged to meet and work with Brenda - unfortunately it was much too brief. Be Inspired - to find a cure for breast cancer - we are inspired every day by amazing women like Brenda Williams.
