| Summer Inspiration Climb - Devil's Bedstead
Conditioning Climbing in Idaho’s remote Mountain Ranges requires that Team Members be in good physical condition. No technical skills are needed. This climb will be under the supervision of Sawtooth Mountain Guides.
Conditioning is the single most important way you can help to insure a fun, safe and successful experience. Arrive in good health and 100 percent fit. Prior strenuous hiking experience for all Team Members is helpful.
The best preparation for this hike is walking or running, emphasizing your legs and cardiovascular system. A training program should be undertaken well before the start of the hike. Walking or day hiking on hills, on a daily basis, with a 10 to 15 pound daypack, will condition your legs, as well as accustom your body to carrying a lightweight pack. If there are no nearby hills, climbing stairs or stadium steps -UP and DOWN- are a good substitute. Training with ski or trekking poles will help you adapt to using these great “knee savers”. Cycling and swimming are also effective ways to train for a hike.
Good luck on your training program as you prepare for this once in a lifetime adventure with Expedition Inspiration! Remember, the better condition you are in, the more you will enjoy your climb.
