TRIBUTE FLAGS

Tribute Flags play an important role in mountaineering.  For decades, it has been a tradition for climbers to carry flags with them on expeditions not only to spread good will to all who pass, but also to bring climbers home safely. Prayer flags have been an important part of the culture of Tibet for centuries. Adopting this spiritual custom, no major expedition would be without their protective flags.

For Expedition Inspiration the flags we take up the mountain have great significance. Each flag is a tribute to a loved one who has or has had breast cancer. Most of our team members are breast cancer survivors, climbing to bring hope to others. By carrying the spirits of many others who have suffered as we have, not only do we honor them as individuals, but we honor all women.

The Expedition Inspriration Tribute Flags are also worn by our hikers, in lieu of numbers, when they participate in our "Help Breast Cancer Take-a-Hike" events held in various cities throughout the United States.

Purchasing a tribute flag in an individual's name is a very special way to recognize someone you love. A personal message can be added at your request. Each flag will be made in duplicate. One will go on the major climbs with the Expedition Inspiration Team and be flown at each of the camps. They will later be made into a permanent exhibit. The duplicate flag will be sent, as a remembrance, to you or whoever you designate.

Expedition Inspiration was conceived as a tribute to the courage and determination of breast cancer survivors and to the memories of the thousands of women whose lives were cut short by the disease.

Monies raised will be devoted exclusively to funding cutting edge projects in breast cancer research, education and patient support.

Flags come in a variety of colors including yellow, orange, red, green, purple, and blue.
