Take-A-Hikes: Los Angeles
The Twelfth Annual Los Angeles Take-A-Hike featured celebrities Shannon Tweed and her daughter, Sophie Tweed-Simmons, (A&E’s Gene Simmons Family Jewels), CCH Pounder (FX’s The Shield), Christina Chambers (ABC’s One Life to Live) and Dr. Frank Ryan, plastic surgeon to the stars, in the great outdoors on Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Paramount Ranch in Agoura, California. They led some 400 hikers in beginning, intermediate and advance hikes and helped raise $75,000 for breast cancer research at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center/Lee Breast Center and the Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research.
The rains held off and cool temperatures provided perfect hiking conditions. The hikes offered sweeping vistas of the Santa Monica Mountains, glimpses of the Pacific Ocean, fresh air, and the opportunity to mingle with the celebrity hosts. Hikers also enjoyed delicious food, live musical entertainment by Unkle Monkey and a raffle. Booths offered information about breast cancer prevention, exercise and nutrition.
