Message from the Board of Directors
As the holidays approach we count our blessings and consider the opportunity to give back to others and share our good fortune. We are proud to be involved with Expedition Inspiration as members of the Board of Directors. Our mission is to raise awareness andsupport breast cancer research, which will help accelerate thedevelopment of innovative new treatments.

We have hiked numerous trails, climbed mountains and even auctioned beautifully decorated bras to raise money to support research grants. Expedition Inspiration grants have led to many successes, such as developing a community-based high dose chemotherapy program that can be administered in small cancer centers. This means that many patients can be treated successfully in their home environments. These advances in research happen because you care.

This holiday season we are asking you to join us in giving a gift of life and hope by making a donation to The Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research. Every contribution, no matter what the size, represents your ongoing commitment to a brighter future for those among us who are fighting breast cancer. Our pledge as Board Members is to continue to fund promising medical research. We hope you will join us in our battle against this disease.
EI welcomes Dr. Angela DeMichele
Angela DeMichele, M.D., M.S.C.E. is a medical oncologist and clinical epidemiologist focused in breast cancer. After graduating with an M.D. from Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. DeMichele completed an Internal Medicine residency and Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Epidemiology from Penn's Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CCEB). She has been an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Senior Scholar in the CCEB since 2000. Her research utilizes methods in molecular and genetic epidemiology to study biomarkers of breast cancer outcome, treatment response and late effects of therapy. DeMichele is a recipient of a Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology and a Mentored Clinical Research Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Health. She directs the breast cancer component of the Living Well After Cancer Program at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania, which focuses on research into both physiological andpsychological late effects in breast cancer survivors. She is currently working on several large cohort studies examining relationships between breast cancer outcome and biologic markers of immune response, chemometabolism, cell cycle control and growth factor signaling. Welcome.
