Hundreds of men, women and children of all ages and fitness levels hit the trails with Honorary Chair, Téa Leoni, and Honorary Hosts, Richard Roundtree, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Kim Raver and Farah Fath at the Ninth Annual Expedition Inspiration Take-A-Hike held at the Paramount Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in Agoura, California on Saturday, October 2, 2004. The early morning event included beginning, intermediate and advanced hikes led by the celebrities. After the trek, the band Soul Dogs entertained the crowd with its unique brand of Americana music, flavored with country, rock and blues. The event raised more than $130,000 for the Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research, and the Revlon/UCLA Breast Center at the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and USC/Norris Lee Breast Center at the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. Take-A-Hike also featured a spectacular silent auction and booths offered information about breast cancer prevention, exercise and nutrition. At a special "Ask-A-Doctor" booth, hikers could speak one-on-one with leading breast cancerspecialists from UCLA and USC about the disease, itsdiagnosis and treatment. The day of fun in the sun, held in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is designed to raise awareness about the disease and to pay tribute to those who have fought, or are still fighting breast cancer.
