7th Annual Seattle Take-A-Hike

Our dedicated volunteers.

Over 200 loyal Seattle Take-A-Hike supporters arrived bright and early Sunday, September 19 at the RedHook Brewery in Seattle for the 7th Annual Hike, Bike and Roll. The hike this year was presented by KISS 106.1.

With the sun making an occasional appearance and no sign of rain, hikers, bikers and rollers enjoyed the festivities.

Warm up exercises were lead by Jeff Parker from Outrageously Fit and Jeff Gordon Fitness. Bikers and rollers took off for a 10-mile trip, with the hikers and walkers following. The Woodinville Fire Dept. was on hand to make sure all participants returned safely. Also on hand was Gregg's Cycle and Rollerblade to provide tips and gear.

Participants and volunteers browsed the many raffle items and information booths. Raffle prizes were donated by: Advanced Laser Clinics, Amtrak Cascades, Gary Manuel Salon, Rollerblade, Skate Journeys, and Philips Sonicare, to name a few.

Julie Gralow, MD, Chair of the Expedition Inspiration Medical Advisory Board lead the tribute flag ceremony to honor and remember all those touched by breast cancer.

Top fundraisers Kristen Jaquish and Susan Yaszay received prizes donated by Lowa Hiking Boots, Colorado Clothing and a giftcertificate from The Willows Lodge.

A new volunteer steering committee made this event happen. Thank you to: Cathy Powell, Trish Alexander, Deann Larsen, Kristen Jaquish, Susan Yaszay, Ted Rust, Tari Gordon, Kurt Watkins and Janet Parker. It was a fabulous hike due to the hard work and planning efforts of this group!

Many thanks to our generous sponsors: KISS 106.1, Amgen, Genentech, Lowa, MGI, Novartis Oncology, RedHook Brewery, Skate Journeys, The Copy Co., Athena, Odwalla, Gretchen's Shoebox Express, and Colorado Clothing.

The Soulful Tunes of Robert Cray

Expedition Inspiration's Summer Soul-Stice Concert, featuring the music of The Robert Cray Band raised approximately $100,000 for the 9th Annual Laura Evans Memorial Breast Cancer Symposium. Five-time Grammy Award winner Cray, long acclaimed for his prowess in the idioms of blues and Southern soul, thrilled the Sun Valley audience with his smooth sound and great instrumentals. Opening band, Randy Roberts and the CowBlues Band, got the crowd on its feet with its blend of rock & country tunes.

Thank you to our concert sponsors:
Laura's Team: Ambassador and Mrs. George L. Argyros. Pinnacle Team: Susan and Dick Parrish, Brian and Deborah Van Dyke King and Thomas Shanks. Special thanks to our many contributors, including: Wells Fargo Private Client Services, Bank of America, Silver Creek Outfitters, Mountain West Bank, Grossman Family Community Trust, CancerConsultants.com, United Cancer Charities, Chums, Chapter One Bookstore and Big Bad Bill's.
