FOURTH ANNUAL NEW HAMPSHIRE TAKE-A-HIKE A damp fall morning greeted hardy hikers of all ages and fitness levels, as they hit the trail for Expedition Inspiration’s Fourth Annual New Hampshire Take-A-Hike. As supporters reached the summit of Mt. Major, the sun broke out and rewarded hikers with fabulous views of Lake Winnepesaukee and the surrounding mountain ranges. Hikers from New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Maine and Massachusetts participated in this wonderful event in the great outdoors and raised over $15,000 for research.

The Hike funds research conducted under the direction of Peter A. Kaufman, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine (Hematology/Oncology) at The Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center - Norris Cotton Cancer Center. Dr. Kaufman spoke at the Hike about how the funds from the Hike continue to support important patient services and programs at the Cancer Center.

The Hike began with a heartwarming Tribute Flag Ceremony, where each hiker dedicated their hike to a loved one who has fought the disease. Participants were honored to hike with Mary Yeo, of Cumberland Center, ME. Mary was a member of Expedition Inspiration’s first team of climbers, which summitted Mt. Aconcagua in 1995.

Thanks to local sponsors; Tender Corporation, Timberland, E’s T’s and Attitash.

Special thank you to the Hike co-chairs, Jenn Hennessey and Melissa Waterhouse, and their steering committee for their continued energy and inspiration as they organize this event each year!

SIP FOR A CURE

“Sip for A Cure,” a Wine, Beer, & BBQ Tasting Festival was held at the Shilshole Bay Beach Club in Seattle, September 2007. This first time event for Expedition Inspiration drew over 350 wine sippers and beer tasters. Co-chairs, Carole Deel and Maggie Miller were on hand to welcome the crowd. “It was a beautiful Seattle evening, the energy and atmosphere were amazing and everyone who came out to support the breast cancer cause had a fabulous time!” said co-chair Deel.

The 10th Annual Seattle event supports promising new research at The University of Washington Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Women’s Cancer Clinic (www.seattlecca.org), under the leadership of Julie R. Gralow, MD, EI Medical Advisory Board Member.

“Sip for A Cure,” was thrilled with the support from the wineries and breweries and the large group who came out to toast for a cure for breast cancer.

 snowshoe

MOONLIGHT SNOWSHOE 2007 A breathtaking moon in transit over Wood River Valley skies cast long shadows on a myriad of snowshoeing adventurers as they climbed for a cure during EI’s Second Annual Moonlight Snowshoe Celebration. With tiki torches and the shimmer of crystalline snow illuminating the way, frigid evening temperatures could not dissuade the indelible spirit of survivors, their families and friends in throwing the gauntlet at the breast cancer epidemic effecting one in seven women.

Warming up to a sumptuous meal and hand selected wines, eager guests bid on an array of fabulous packages offered in honor, celebration, or memory of someone directly affected by breast cancer. “We are grateful for the overwhelming generosity of businesses and private individuals in our community,” said Suzanne Mulenos and Juli Watson, Expedition Inspiration Board Members, who spearheaded the event.
