TWELFTH ANNUAL LOS ANGELES TAKE-A-HIKE Celebrities Shannon Tweed and her daughter, Sophie Tweed Simmons, (A&E’s Gene Simmons Family Jewels), CCH Pounder (FX’s The Shield), Christina Chambers (ABC’s One Life to Live) and Dr. Frank Ryan, plastic surgeon to the stars, headed into the great outdoors to help stamp out breast cancer one hill at a time at the 12th Annual LA Take-A-Hike on Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Paramount Ranch in Agoura, California. They led some 400 hikers in beginning, intermediate and advance hikes and helped raise $80,000 for breast cancer research at the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research.

CURE IN THE CANYONS
“Cure in the Canyons,” an extravagant late morning beauty-fest was held at the Malibu Bony Pony Ranch of noted Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Frank Ryan, on September 22. The event featured more than 25 of the top beauty and wellness trendsetters, who donated their time and products to fund breast cancer research at USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Guests enjoyed extraordinary free beauty treatments and samples as they meandered through the amazing Malibu Bony Pony Ranch, enjoying luxury products and services as top beauty brands offered makeovers, facials, and hairstyling and skincare advice. A-List sponsors included Ole Henriksen, Vincent Longo, Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, Peter Solis and Pauline Youngblood, Kinerase, Paul Mitchell, NIA 24, Anastasia Beverly Hills, skynICELAND, Angeleno Magazine, SHAPE and Foot Petals. Twin Magic Lashes by Daniel and Jimmy was on-site for expert advice and free demos.

Celebrity co-chairs of the event were actresses/TV personalities, Shannon Tweed and daughter Sophie Tweed Simmons. Celebrity co-hosts were actresses CCH Pounder and Catherine Dent (The Shield), Lorraine Toussaint, (Saving Grace) and Dr. Frank Ryan.

“Cure in the Canyons” was the brainchild of Karin Purvis, Co-chair of the Los Angeles Take-A-Hike and EI volunteer since 2003. She dedicates her efforts on behalf of her aunts.

HARD ROCK “ROCKTOBER” Oscar De La Hoya autographed boxing gloves to be raffled off for Expedition Inspiration. The Olympic Gold Medal winning boxer was in Hollywood to autograph and donate a pair of pink Everlast boxing gloves to the Hard Rock Café for it’s 2007 Rocktober breast cancer awareness initiative. Big thank you to the Hard Rock Café for their continued support.
