Expedition Inspiration Team Conquers Hyndman Peak In The Battle Against Breast Cancer
The Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast cancer research is pleased to announce that their team of hardy adventurers successfully submitted Hyndman Peak, at 12,009 feet, the highest in Idaho's Pioneer Mountain Range. Tewnty-one climbers took advantage of a perfect Idaho summer day to reach the summit on Saturday, August 20th. Another ten hikers supported the summit team and hiked to various elevations between Hyndman and Old Hyndman Peaks. This is the largest number of climbers in Expedition Inspiration's ten year history. Expedition Inspiration sponsored the fund-raising climb to empower and promote health and well-being of all who participated. The team included breast cancer survivors, friends and family of those who are fighting the battle. Nancy Knoble of Bend, OR submitted in honor of EI's founder, Laura Evans, and her fellow climbers from Expedition Inspiration's first fundraising climb of Argentina's 22,841' Mt. Aconcagua. She also serves on the organizations Board. "I climb to celebrate my good health and to say to those diagnosed with breast cancer, there is hope and you can do something about it. Raising funds for Expedition Inspiration's Annual Medical Symposium is the best way I know to support the kind of research that will defeat this disease." EI's Hyndman Peak team raised nearly $30,000 to help support cutting-edge cancer research projects.
Special thanks to The Kapp family and friends and all our climbers for their continued support of Expedition Inspiration.
The expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research was founded in 1993 by breast cancer survivor and climber Laura Evans to raise awareness and research funds for the casue, as well as to educate and support those affected by the disease. Make plans to join the upcoming climbs in EI's "Five Peaks in Five Years" campaign, as teams continue to conquer the highest peaks in Idaho's spectacular mountain ranges. Future climbs include Ryan Peak in the Boulders, Castle Peak in the White Clouds and Borah Peak, in the Lost River range, as 12,688', the highest point in Idaho.
