SUNNY NORTHWEST DAY GREET HIKERS, BIKERS & SKATERS FOR 8th ANNUAL EXPEDITION INSPIRATION TAKE-A-HIKE HELD AT REDHOOK ALE BREWRY IN WOODINVILLE SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2005

Event Raises over $30,000 for Breast Cancer Research at UW Medical Center Breast Care & Cancer Research Center.

Men, women and children of all ages and fitness levels hit the trails in Woodinville, WA for the Eighth Annual Expedition InspirationTake-A-Hike held at the Redhook Ale Brewery on Sunday, September 18, 2005.  The morning event included hiking, biking and skating opportunities for participants.  Breakfast and lunch were provided.  Participants warmed up to the energetic encouragement of Karen Carriker, our volunteer personal trainer.

The event raised over $30,000 for the Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research and for research, under the direction of Dr. Julie Gralow, at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.

Take-A-Hike also featured a raffle and silent auction. Booths offered information about breast cancer prevention, exercise and nutrition.

The day of fun in the sun, once the fog burned off, was designed to raise awareness about the disease and to pay tribute to those who have fought, or are still fighting breast cancer. Special thanks to Laura's Team sponsor, ABRAXIS Oncology, The Walking Company of Bellevue for donating participant t-shirts, and to Susan Yaszay, for making this wonderful event a reality.

Expedition Inspiration was founded in 1993 by breast cancer survivor, Laura Evans, to raise awareness and research funds, as well as educate and support those affected by the disease. Through treks, hikes and other outdoor activities, the fund has donated over $2 million.
