EXPEDITION INSPIRATION FUND FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH ANNOUNCES PUBLIC FORUM IN BOISE

The Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research is pleased to announce it is sponsoring a Public Forum, in conjunction with Mountain States Tumor Institute and St. Luke’s Breast Care Services.  This collaborative forum is titled, “New Advances in Breast Cancer Prevention, Treatment, and Research”.  It will take place Monday, June 19, 2006 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, in the Anderson Center of Mountain States Tumor Institute in Boise.  Everyone is invited to attend.  Featured guest speaker will be Dr. Julie Gralow, Associate Professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Washington School of Medicine.   She is the principle investigator on several clinical trials related to breast cancer treatment.  Dr. Gralow is committed to improving the quality of life for breast cancer patients through her ongoing cutting-edge research, as well as through advocating patient education, exercise, and diet.  She promotes breast cancer awareness throughout the community.  The Idaho community is both pleased and honored to have her as our featured speaker for this Public Forum.

The forum will also feature several other speakers and panelists, including Dr. Ron Dorn, Radiation Oncologist at MSTI, Dr. John Lung, surgeon at MSTI, and Dr. Robert Vestal, Clinical Pharmacology Consultant, as well as several other MSTI oncologists.  Drs. Gralow, Dorn, Lung, and Vestal have all served on Expedition Inspiration’s Medical Advisory Board.

A highlight of the Public Forum will be the opportunity for patients, family, medical professionals and members of the press to ask questions of the panelists.  Commonly discussed topics will include clinical trials, new advances in research, alternative therapies, estrogen replacement and preventative measures.  This disease affects us all.  Expedition Inspiration’s Public Forum is not just for cancer survivors, but as an attendee at another EI forum commented, “…for all of us who may not have experienced cancer, but will serve as messengers…”.   Everyone is encouraged to attend and take advantage of this opportunity.  Thank you to Mountain States Tumor Institute and St Luke’s Breast Care Services for generously co-sponsoring this Public Forum.  Special thank you to Genentech BioOncology for its support of this event.
