EXPEDITION INSPIRATION TEAM CONQUERS RYAN PEAK IN THE BATTLE AGAINST BREAST CANCER

The Expedition Inspiration Fund For Breast Cancer Research is pleased to announce that their team of hardy adventurers successfully summitted Ryan Peak, at 11,715 feet, the highest in Idaho’s Boulder Mountain Range. A record of number climbers, twenty-eight, took advantage of a perfect Idaho summer day to reach the summit on Saturday, August 19th.   Another ten hikers supported the summit team and hiked to various elevations in the valley, including 10,040 foot West Pass.  Expedition Inspiration sponsored this fundraising climb to empower and promote the health and well-being of all who participated.  The team included breast cancer survivors, friends and family of those who are fighting the battle. Climbers hailed from eleven states and two countries.  Twelve year old Jo Haller, of Brooklyn, New York, summitted Ryan Peak in honor of her aunt, Courtney Kapp of Philadelphia, who celebrated with her atop the mountain.   After the climb Kapp reflected,  “I was thinking last night how amazing it is to be on a mountain with so many supporters - it is clear why Laura Evans, EI’s founder, picked this venue to make a statement about our need to find a cure.”  Expedition Inspiration’s Ryan Peak team has so far raised nearly $35,000.  to help support cutting-edge breast cancer research projects.

Special thanks, once again, to the Kapp and Crenshaw families and friends and to ALL our climbers for their continued support of Expedition Inspiration.  Thank you also to Joshua Wells, of Ketchum, ID, who served as official photographer and captured many priceless images of the day’s adventures.   Sawtooth Mountain Guides of Stanley, ID did another great job of safely leading our team to the summit of this rugged mountain.

The Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research was founded in 1993 by breast cancer survivor and climber Laura Evans to raise awareness and research funds for the cause, as well as to educate and support those affected by the disease.  Makes plans to join the upcoming climbs in EI’s “Five Peaks in Five Years” campaign, as teams continue to conquer the highest peaks in Idaho’s spectacular mountain ranges.  Future climbs include Castle Peak in the White Clouds in August 2007 and Borah Peak, in the Lost River Range, at 12,668’, the highest point in Idaho.
